The Next Step Day at Savio Salesian College, Bootle, aims to prepare students for life beyond school, and this year, two past pupils went along to help. Last weekend, our national Salesian youth gather once again gave hundreds of young people an amazing 24hours. The Salesian Youth Ministry event, kindly hosted by Thornleigh Salesian College, Bolton, is for students from Year 9 and over, and participants came from Salesian schools and those with a Salesian connection - including a Church of England school whose Chaplain is a member of our Salesian Family.... Farnborough student is Paraclimbing World Champion!

Matthew Phillips, a Year 13 student at Salesian College Farnborough, represented Great Britain at the 2018 IFSC World Paraclimbing Championships in Innsbruck. (Photo of Matthew above: Lorraine Stewart)
After topping the qualification rounds in his category, on Friday 14th September he won the gold medal, beating finalists from the USA, Russia and Spain.

Farnborough's surprise visitors from Brazil

On Wednesday 12th September, Salesian College Farnborough had a surprise visit from a coachload of staff from Salesian schools in Brazil! This was a very late arrangement, but by the time the coach drove into the College at 9.30am, the Headmaster and his team had devised a programme to welcome them and introduce them to the College.

Last weekend was the 2018 reunion of Old Boys and staff from the former Salesian Missionary College, Shrigley Park. Last weekend's Adoremus Congress and Pilgrimage in Liverpool was the first National Eucharistic Congress to be held in England since London hosted the 1908 International event, and was widely reported on by UK and overseas media.
