Br Michael Winstanley SDB celebrated a rather special birthday last weekend at Savio House, where he has become something of a legend in his many years of service, held in great affection for his Salesian spirit, friendliness and sense of humour.

On May 25th the Chertsey community gathered with the parish and friends and family of Fr John to celebrate a jubilee mass led by Fr Gerry Briody, the Salesian provincial.

Salesian pilgrims in the Holy Land

Our Salesian Youth Ministry pilgrims are coming to the end of their time in the Holy Land. The group of 23, which includes teachers and lay chaplains, priests and brothers, began their journey in Nazareth, praying and reflecting at the site of the Annunciation on how as Salesians we can bring Jesus into the lives of those we serve in our schools, parishes, chaplaincies and youth work.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, the Salesians tried to continue with their education and youth work, despite the ban on non-approved programmes, but on 23rd May 1943, twelve Salesians in Krakow were arrested by the Gestapo.

Our Justice and Peace Delegate, Fr Marco, attended the recent CAFOD event at Westminster.
On Wednesday May 8th I attended the annual CAFOD Parliamentary Correspondents' Reception at Speaker's House in the Palace of Westminster. Boscoffee Cafe serves the community & gives opportunities to young people

The latest project from the Bosco Centre in Bermondsey is a community cafe in the Docklands Settlement, serving delicious food and real coffee at affordable prices, while giving work skills and experience to young people with special educational needs.
