July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

The dialogue between Jesus and Pilate in the Gospel of John, where Jesus is asked 'Quid est veritas?' (what is truth), has always intrigued me! It is a clash between two world views.... Read More »

A reflection on the Gospel for the Fifth Sunday of Easter, by Fr Gerry O'Shaughnessy SDB

In our Gospel today we see Jesus trying to encourage his disciples, reminding them that there are "many rooms in my father's house" (John 14:2). I'm reminded of a very pious and holy nun I met on a Retreat; during the week it became obvious that the Sister Superior of this convent was VERY strict. As the week came... Read More »

On Sunday May 3rd, Fr Tom Williams, the Rector, decided to recognise Joe's work in multi-cultural cooking by presenting him with a chef's hat.

Joe has not cut his... Read More »

The transformative power of Religious Education

This week, Catholic teacher Mike Bennett shares his experience of how the study of religion can transform young people - if it's done in the right way. (Photo: Shutterstock)

I am a bit of a geek! A 'Theo-geek'! I fell in love with theology when a young and brilliant RE teacher broke open the scriptures to me when I was in Year 12. This generous lady truly taught me who Christ was. She made the Jesus... Read More »

As our Education delegate, Fr David O'Malley SDB is aware of school communities that are dealing with deaths of family members, parents and associates. "The usual pattern of support is not possible at this time, especially since the experience of dying and also funerals is far more stark than normal," he writes, "It is not easy and the limitations of technology appear starkly here"
