July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Sunday Reflection - Fifth Sunday of Easter

Sunday Reflection - Fifth Sunday of Easter

By this love you have for one another,
everyone will know that you are my disciples. (Jn 13:35)

As we move towards the end of the Easter season, the Church offers us an opportunity to reflect on the priestly prayer of Jesus in John's Gospel that takes place in the context of the Last Supper. Jesus has shown what true love is all about by washing the feet of disciples. All twelve, including the denier,... Read More »

Moving Forward - Learning from the Past

Moving forward—learning lessons from history.

The 1960's were a period of great change and transition in all walks of life throughout the world. Vatican II still challenges the Church, sadly, with some doing all within their power to negate the strength and power of this ecumenical council. There was global awakening of the power of equality: sexism was seen to be wrong, while institutional racism... Read More »

Sunday Reflection - Fourth Sunday of Easter

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never... Read More »

Mary in the month of May

Mary in the month of May

Posted: Wed, 4 May 2022 15:39

As we enter this beautiful month of May, our thoughts naturally turn to Mary of Nazareth, Mother of God and Don Bosco's constant 'help'. I was delighted to receive a beautiful statue from a beloved family member called 'Maternal Bond' and it now stands on my work desk—a constant reminder to me of that love of Mary so simply expressed in the gospels and our rich Christian tradition. It was designed... Read More »

Mary in May-reflections to use with the rosary

The Birth of Mary

The reality of Incarnation is that Jesus was born into a real family;
scripture highlight Bethlehem as the city of David, the family
associated with Joseph. As we begin our traditional devotion of the
rosary, it is good to look at the maternal side of Jesus's family. One
of the hardest parts of the global pandemic and the necessary physical... Read More »

Sunday Reflection - Third Sunday of Easter

Sunday Reflection - Third Sunday of Easter

Posted: Sun, 1 May 2022 09:38

Today our gospel takes us back to Galilee—in John's gospel, the disciples return to familiarity and security, and go back to their old jobs as fishermen. Rather like the Ukrainians fleeing from their homeland, as they see death and destruction all around, there is still a strong desire to return home—they do not want to be refugees, they want, and have a right, to be happy and content in... Sunday Reflection - Palm Sunday

Sunday Reflection - Palm Sunday

Posted: Sat, 9 Apr 2022 15:57

'Hosanna' the crowds cry, as they lay down their palm leaves in the path of the mighty Messiah, as he enters Jerusalem—on a donkey! This simple act shows the true glory of Jesus: not for him a powerful chariot, or a mighty steed. He enters this week of glory on the humble, working farm animal. I suspect that he would have subscribed to the idea that if the donkey was good enough for the pregnant... Read More »
