Please remember in your prayers a Thornleigh past pupil, Fr Michael Walsh, who died on Friday 7th November 2008 at the age of 63. He was parish priest at St Paul's, Guide Bridge, Tameside, and fulfilled many roles in the Church at

Diocesan and National Level.

From Monday 27th October to Wednesday 29th October 2008, Salesian Parish Clergy from England, Scotland and Guernsey met at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire. On Saturday 16th August 2008, Don Bosco's Birthday, Alexander (Sandy) Fairley made his first profession in the Chapel of Thornleigh Salesian College in Bolton. He is the first in our province for many years to answer the call to the vocation of Salesian Brother.

Tim Brabants, who won a gold and a bronze medal at the Olympics, is a Past Pupil of the Salesian School, Chertsey. Tim, a qualified doctor from Walton on Thames, came first in the final of the 1000m kayak race and third in the 500m

event.

Two Golden Jubilees

Fr Frank Sutherland and Fr John Booth celebrated their Golden Jubilees of Ordination in July 2008.

Fr Sutherland was ordained on 13th July 1958 in Melchet Court, near Romsey in Hampshire. As a Salesian he taught in Malta and South Africa, Blaisdon, Aberdour, Shrigley, Bootle, and at Salesian College Farnborough, where he now lives. He celebrated his jubilee in Farnborough on Saturday 12th July.
