Salesian Education Conference

Over 150 educators from our Salesian Schools and Retreat Centres in Great Britain took part in a Salesian Education Conference on Saturday 9th October 2010. The theme of the day was Educating Young People to Social Justice. The conference, organised by the Salesian Youth Ministry Team, took place in the Archbishop Grimshaw Catholic High School in Solihull, near Birmingham.

Papal Award for Maria Barnes

On Saturday 25th September 2010 Mrs Maria Barnes received the Bene Merenti Medal from Pope Benedict XVI for outstanding service to the Roman Catholic Church in Cornwall. Shaun Larcom studied for a doctorate at University College London. There he met Fr John Dickson SDB, Rector of the Battersea Salesian Community and a chaplain at the University. It has been ten years since our province has had the joy of celebrating the ordination of a new Salesian Priest. On Saturday 3rd July 2010 Fr Marco Villani SDB was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Luc Van Looy SDB in the Church of Christ the Prince of Peace Weybridge.

On Saturday 26th June 2010 Fr Charles Garrick celebrated forty years as a Salesian priest.
