There are many passages in Scripture which shed light on and provide inspiration for our Salesian way of life and mission. One of my favourites is that incident recounted by St Mark after the disciples have returned from an extended missionary experience. Salesian Logo and Coat of Arms

The Salesian Coat of Arms, appeared for the first time in a circular letter of Don Bosco's on 8th December 1885.
The shining star, the large anchor, the heart on fire symbolize the theological virtues; the figure of St. Francis de Sales recalls the Patron of the Society; the small wood in the lower part reminds us of the Founder; the high mountains signify the heights of perfection towards which members... Savio House
One of the features of the Province that has not previously featured in this account is the work of the Youth Retreat Centre at Savio House, Bollington. Originally Ingersley Hall was a smallish Country House, built in the 1750s by the Gaskell family which eventually came to the Lomas family. BLESSED MARIA ROMERO MENESES (1902-1977)

Maria Romero Meneses was born in Granada, Nicaragua, on the 13th January 1902 to a well-to-do family. Her father, a minister in the Government of the Republic, was generous with those who had nothing. Mary learned from her earliest years what it meant to offer practical charity even when it was difficult. The family had great dreams for her: she studied music, pianoforte and violin.

BLESSED EUSEBIA PALOMINO (1899-1935)

Eusebia Palomino Yenes was born in Cantalpino in the province of Salamanca, in the west of Spain, the 15th December 1899. Augustine Palomino's family was very poor. He was a man of faith. At certain times of the year Eusebia and her father had to go begging in nearby villages, but they did so with joy and singular faith.

BLESSED MADELEINE MORANO (1847-1908)

Maddalena Caterina Morano was born in Chieri, in the province of Turin, on the 15th November 1847. Her father Francis died when she was eight and she began to help her mother with her work.

Alessandrina Maria da Costa was born on the 30th March 1904 at Balasar in Portugal. She was brought up in the faith by her mother, along with her sister Deolinda. Alessandrina stayed with the family until she turned seven, then was sent to Póvoa do Varzim to board with a carpenter's family, so she could attend the primary school that she would have missed out on at Balasar.
