New Head for St John Bosco Arts College

Darren Gidman has been appointed as the new headteacher at St John Bosco Arts College.
St John Bosco Arts College is an all-girls Catholic secondary school in Croxteth, Liverpool. The school became an Arts College in 2004, a leading Edge School in 2012 and a Teaching school in 2013. It was rated as outstanding by Ofsted in 2013.

NEW PROVINCIAL ANNOUNCED

We are delighted to announce that the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernándes Artime, with the consent of his Council, has appointed Fr Gerry Briody SDB as the new GBR Provincial for the period 2016 - 2022.
Fr Gerry will take up the responsibility in August 2016.

One of the central aims of the Jubilee of Mercy will be to reorient the Sacrament of Confession back to the center of the Church's pastoral life, explained one official involved in organizing the year-long event.

FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

On the 8th December 1841, the feast of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION! Don Bosco, preparing for Mass, heard the cries of a young boy. On entering the sacristy, he saw the sacristan confronting the boy because he refused to serve Mass. In an act of MERCY and friendship Don Bosco asked "Can you whistle?" and the rest is history!

Friday saw the formal opening ceremony and blessing of the new school buildings of St John Bosco College, Battersea, with the Archbishop of Southwark, Peter Smith, and Fr Martin Coyle SDB, Provincial.
In 1887 three Salesians said 'goodbye' to Don Bosco in Turin to begin their pioneering journey into the unknown, arriving in Battersea, London on the 16th November. Don Bosco was keen to expand his work... Read More »

Artemide Zatti was born on the 12th October, 1880 in Italy, and died on the 15th March 1951 at Viedma, Argentina. As a Salesian religious brother, he became a saint by running a hospital and pharmacy for the sick and poor for 40 years in Viedma, Argentina.
