From 12 to 14 January, the annual meeting of the Atlantic-German Zone of the Central and Northern Europe Region took place in the Salesian community of Battersea, London. Our four Liberian missionaries had a 'wee get together' recently in St Joseph's Bolton, January 2018.

In Bolton, staff and Salesians gathered at St Joseph's to say thank you and farewell to Sylvia Hartshorn, who retired this week.

Sylvia has been a dedicated and much loved carer at our community for older Salesians since it opened 19 years ago, and the SDBs and staff from St Joseph's and Thornleigh House came together to thank her and celebrate with her as she begins her new life.

New building at Chertsey named for Sean Devereux

On Friday 12th January 2018, Salesian School Chertsey dedicated and blessed its new Devereux building in memory of Sean Devereux, who was a former PE teacher at Salesian. Sean was killed while working for the UN in Somalia 25 years ago this month.

Titus Zeman was a Salesian priest, born at Vajnory, near Bratislava, in 1915. On 30th September 2016, he became the first Slovakian Salesian to be beatified.

He attended a Salesian secondary school, and felt an early call to the priesthood, entering the novitiate in 1931, and making his perpetual profession in Rome in 1938. He was ordained priest in 1940, and celebrated his first Mass in his home town... Read More »
