We may be nearing the end of summer, but August is also a month of festivals, carnivals and celebrations as well as the long-awaited summer holidays for those at schools and colleges. Make the most of the last month of summer and take a look at our books to while away the long days.July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Students and their families at Salesian School, Chertsey, were celebrating following the publication of this year's A Level and vocational results.

Over a third of all grades were A* or A with an amazing 29 students achieving straight A*-A results. 68% of all grades were A*-B with 88% being A*-C.

Almost all students from the College at Salesian secured their first choice university place and 60% of applicants gained places at Russell Group universities including Cambridge, Warwick, UCL and Durham.

Deputy Headteacher and Head of College, Lizzie Bolton said; "With this being our biggest ever year group at the College we are delighted to have maintained our excellent results. All credit must go to the students who worked incredibly hard and contributed positively to the College community throughout their two years."

Headteacher Paul Gower said: "The results this year continue the excellent track record of outcomes for students at Salesian College. I would like to thank our tremendous staff and to congratulate all of our Year 13 students, who together made a wonderful group of people"

Salesian School and College are part of the Xavier Catholic Education Trust. The school identifies the support of and collaboration within the trust as a significant factor in its success. The trust's CEO, James Kibble said, "We are very proud of all the students across our Xavier schools and delighted that they have received such excellent results this week. We are blessed with exceptional staff in our schools and great support from the students' families."
