This year is the Golden Jubilee of the ordination of Fr Eddie O'Neill SDB.

He started at Shrigley in 1960 and after his clothing went to Daleside in South Africa to complete his novitiate and philosophy studies.
Eddie then spent 4 years in Maynooth Ireland completing his theology and was ordained at Shrigley in 1974 along with Fr Jim McGarry.
He was asked to return to South Africa to assist at the Salesian College in Lansdowne. The college closed down in 1976 and Eddie then went to study at St Paul's University in Ottawa, Canada to obtain his Masters in Canon Law.

He returned to the Cape where he has been since working in Salesian parishes, the 2 houses and as an episcopal vicar for the archdiocese of Cape Town.
Last Saturday, family, Salesians and friends gathered at Savio to celebrate with a Mass followed by a great spread of refreshments.
