July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Shrigley Old Boys gather virtually across the miles

Last weekend, the Shrigley Old Boys held their annual reunion online. On Saturday night, they watched a video from their homes which included a welcome from Vice Provincial Fr Bob Gardner SDB, a series of video clips from concerts at past reunions and photos of life at Shrigley and old friends. The evening closed with an inspiring 'Goodnight' from Fr John Dickson SDB, reflecting on Don Bosco's creative educational approach.

Many Old Boys joined the regular live Mass on the Province Facebook page on Sunday morning, where Shrigley Old Boys who died this year were remembered in prayer, along with all those buried in the Shrigley and Bollington cemeteries.

Although in these times, planning ahead is difficult, it is hoped that a real, in-person reunion can be held at Shrigley Hall Hotel and Savio House as usual in September 2021. We'll let you know as plans unfold.

However, this year's unusual circumstances meant that Shrigley Old Boys and their families who live too far away to gather in Cheshire, were able to take part from across the world, by watching the the video on YouTube and attending the live Mass. There are positives in every situation!
