July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Salesian Resources for Parents and for Form Tutors

Fr David O'Malley SDB, Salesian Schools Coordinator for our Province, has recently produced two sets of resources, one to give parents further insights into Don Bosco's approach to young people, and the other to guide form tutors in leading prayer.

'Growing Together' is a downloadable pdf aimed primarily at families who are new to a Salesian school. It outlines the integration of Home, School, Playground and Church, and the ethos of the Salesian school as a place with an atmosphere of loving kindness, where young people thrive and come to maturity in an environment of support and respect. The aim is to help parents and teachers work together to support young people.

A video created by Fr David aims to support families with developing a Salesian spirituality at home, outlining the concept of RUAH - the 'breath of God', expressed as Respect, Understanding, Affection and Humour, and offering ideas on the how concept can help with the complexities of bringing up young people.

Fr David also offers a suite of resources to guide form tutors who are leading prayers with their students, with an overview of the role of prayer in the life of the school, and some thoughts to help shape the content of prayer, and a range of ideas for different forms prayer time could take, to engage both tutor and students in fresh and authentic approaches.
