150 years of Past Pupils of Don Bosco

On 24 June 2020, the feast of St John the Baptist, it was exactly 150 years since Carlo Gastini and other young people from the Salesian Oratory, presented Don Bosco with a feast-day gift of coffee cups to thank him for the education they had received.

This important anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the mission of Don Bosco's Past Pupils in the Salesian Family, in the Church and in society today, and marks the beginning of a range of initiatives worldwide, to explore this and to celebrate our past pupils.

Past pupils in our Province are considering events of their own, and we will pass on information about these as plans develop. One of these will be the Shrigley Old Boys' reunion, which has already been arranged for September. Bernard O'Neill is awaiting advice from Shrigley Hall on how to hold the event within the restrictions that are likely at the time, and a decision will be made by the end of July on whether the event can go ahead on the original dates, or will be postponed until later in the year.
