July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Haircut raises £800 for Ashalayam

Last Saturday, Salesian Cooperator John Hoskins had (probably) the most expensive haircut in the world, from Fr Andrew Ebrahim SDB, in aid of Don Bosco Ashalayam in Kolkata.

John bravely volunteered for the fundraising event, which has so far raised £800 from generous sponsors. Equipped with PPE, basic cutting implements and an extensive repertoire of YouTube 'how to' videos, Fr Andrew lopped off John's luxuriant locks in his garden, using an unusual 'arms-length' technique. Visibility was slightly hampered by the unfortunate combination of a mask and spectacles, but we are happy to report that John emerged from the experience with both ears intact.

Fr Andrew has taken the lead in many efforts to support the wonderful Salesian work of the Ashalayam, which offers a home, education, training and hope to street children and young people. Although he is not taking any more hairdressing appointments, Fr Andrew is open to further donations. If you would like to make a contribution, please email him using the link below.
