July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Gratitude - the key to finding happiness in tough times

This week, in their virtual assembly, Thornleigh Salesian College encouraged their community to look for things to be grateful for. Along with an uplifting version of Bambelela, (Hold on, never give up) from RE and Music teachers Dan and James, pictured above, staff, students and guest presenters talk about the things they are thankful for, from being able to hear birdsong to the health staff caring for a seriously ill relative. There are some excellent pieces of advice and ideas for all of us in the video.

The assembly includes input from the Mark and Liam, founders of WHYSUP, who use their own experience as addicts in recovery to work with schools, businesses, sports and other organisations to offer support, information and mentoring on addiction and mental health. Liam shares the important advice he was given early in his recovery process, and which he has acted on ever since: "You will never be happy if you're not grateful .. it doesn't work the other way round," he says.
