July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Three confreres celebrate 190 years as SDBs

Fr Bob (70 years an SDB), Br Michael and Fr Michael (50 years each) renew their vows

Our Lady's birthday is always an important day in the Salesian Family, but Sunday 8 September this year was an extra special occasion in Bolton, as Fr Bob Coupe, Fr Michael Winstanley and Br Michael Winstanley celebrated a combined 190 years as Salesians of Don Bosco.

Fr Bob made his first vows 70 years ago, in 1949, and Fr Michael and Br Michael made theirs in 1959 - a mere 60 years ago.

The community of St Joseph's, where Fr Bob and Br Michael live, were joined at their Sunday Mass by guests including the sisters and brothers-in-law of Fr Bob and Br Michael. After the homily, the three read the renewal of their vows. Congratulations were offered at the reception afterwards, and of course, a delicious cake was cut. As the occasion was blessed with good weather, the festivities flowed into the gardens as community and guests mingled and shared happy memories.

On Sunday evening, the Thornleigh community continued the celebrations with their own party and prayers for Fr Michael, their Rector.

We are grateful for the commitment and decades of service to the young that Fr Bob Fr Michael and Br Michael have given and continue to give. Congratulations and ad multos annos!
