July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Year 7 retreat includes plenty of fun

Woopee from Battersea describes her group's retreat at Salesian House last week

I really enjoyed visiting the Salesian House. As soon as I stepped foot in the house I felt like I was at home.

At the start of the retreat I put on my trainers and then we went through Battersea Park, although we did not get the boat to the Emirate Skyline, we did get the boat on the way back.

The Skyline was sooo fun. We went more than 100 feet above the ground.

When we got back we went up to settle in our rooms and change into our pyjamas so that we could be ready to watch Shark Boy and Lava Girl. We had a little prayer session before we went to bed.

In the morning we woke up, washed and brushed our teeth before going down for breakfast. We played a game which got us really wet and then we had Mass during which there was a mini play. I played the part of St Peter. After that we chilled for a bit and then we went home.
