Richard Ebejer SDB of St Catherine's Centre, Maynooth University, reports on the formation seminar held for our two Provinces in Northern Ireland from 28-30 June 2019.

A joint formation seminar between the British and Irish Provinces was held at Dromantine Conference Centre in Northern Ireland last week.

The theme of the seminar was 'Our First Vocation - Being Human; Growing in Chastity and Celibacy', which was conducted by Fr Gerard Fiedhouse-Byrne, the director of St Luke's Institute , a centre for formation of clergy and religious in Manchester.

Fr Gerard shared from his experience and expertise in counselling, giving a refreshingly honest and open look at the implications of living out our sexuality and commitment as consecrated celibate men. At its core, human sexuality is a divine energy which calls humanity into relationship with God and one another and is expressed in a multiplicity of ways.

Fourteen students in formation took part in the seminar as well as formators; there was the opportunity to share together as well as explore different issues and questions.

The beautiful grounds, tranquil, peaceful atmosphere along with the modern facilities of Dromantine Centre enhanced the experience. The centre is run by the Missionaries of Africa (SMA)
