On June 26th, Ms Barnsley (History) and Fr Marco (Chaplaincy / RE) took nine pupils ranging in age from Year 8-10 on the annual Diocesan Secondary School Good Samaritan Pilgrimage to Arundel. Our trip by school minibus lasted the best part of an hour and a half, however, having departed at half past eight, we made it in good time to meet the other pilgrims.

We were greeted by the Bishop of Arundel & Brighton, the Rt. Rev. Richard Moth and the Head of the Catholic Education Service, Marie Ryan, who made us feel very welcome. After a few pre-pilgrimage snacks to fuel our walk, we set out with the Bishop on our pilgrimage.

Placed in 'pole position' throughout, the pilgrimage started from the main car park by the bridge, opposite the main visitor entrance to Arundel Castle. After walking along the public pavement, we then walked through the grounds belonging to the Duke of Norfolk whose family home is Arundel Castle; every year the Duke kindly lets pilgrims walk through his grounds.

This year's walk was punctuated by prayer stations, each devoted to a saint with a particular regard for the diocese. The last prayer station was dedicated to St Philip Howard, 20th Earl of Arundel.
