July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Sharing publishing ideas in Munich

Sarah Seddon, Manager of Don Bosco Publications, and Fr Bob Gardner, Delegate for Publications and Social Media, were in Munich this week to represent the British Province at at the biennial meeting of the European Don Bosco Publishing houses, hosted at the Munich Salesianum.

Stefan Höchstädter, Managing Director of the Don Bosco Verlag in Munich, said it was an excellent opportunity to get to know what everyone in Salesian publishing is doing, and also "to show them our work here in Munich with the strong connection to the young people on Campus Don Bosco, that combines different Salesian institutions next to our publishing house, like our group homes for apprentices."

"Exchanging knowledge to and for young people; that is what the publishing houses all try to achieve," explained Fr Filiberto Gonzales, Head of Communication for the Salesian headquarters in Rome, "therefore, it is important to get together and keep up to date with new developments of culture, spirituality and technology in the spirit of Don Bosco."

The participants were also very pleased with the event. Sarah said,"It was a great opportunity to put faces to names, and to get inspiration for Don Bosco Publications." She was especially taken with the series of small children's books made in Munich. Marta Palomares from Barcelona, Spain, plans to take home the idea of picture-card sets she saw at the meeting. "It is great to see that there are so many resources and employees to keep the work and spirit of Don Bosco alive," she said.
