July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Shrigley Old Boys' Glasgow get-together

Joe Doogan has more news of the recent Shrigley Old Boys' gathering in Easterhouse

Once again the Scottish clan of the Salesian family met in the parish of St John Bosco in Easterhouse,Glasgow, to have another fun day to celebrate the feast of Don Bosco.

Mass was slightly delayed until all the Old Boys had finished with their welcome. Our Provincial, Fr Gerry Briody, concelebrated the Mass, ably assisted by Fr Michael Winstanley and Fr Bob Coupe.Although we had only 25 in the congregation, the wonderful singing seemed to fill the church, thanks due to the training received in Shrigley.

After the buffet, prepared by the Cooperators from Easterhouse, it was down to the serious business of the day - catching up the news of the Salesians and the Old Boys. During this period we did take time to arrange our social calendar for 2019. We will be having 2 social meetings in a pub/diner in the centre of Glasgow ( all welcome). We also discussed the annual visit to Shrigley and the possibility of a later date ie: the last week in October.

The Highlight of the day was not one birthday boy, nor two, but three! Bro Donald, Fr Bob and Fr Michael. Curiously, no one would tell their age.

The day finished off the customary sing song -the jokes -funny stories of Shrigley - and many good wishes.
