The Fairtrade Stall at Salesian School Chertsey's Christmas Shopping Evening last month raised £150, to go to a Fairtrade cause. The charity chosen was Shared Interest, an ethical investment organisation.
The charity facilitates investment in primarily Fairtrade businesses in disadvantaged communities, using the funds to make loans and credit facilities available to enable farmers and other producers to trade and earn a decent living.
A cheque was presented in the school chapel by students from the Fairtrade group.
