Justice & Peace at the heart of Christmas Shopping in Chertsey

The choices we make when shopping for Christmas can be uncomfortable, as we snap up mass-produced gifts, which are often produced by people working in poor conditions for very low wages. But visitors to the Christmas shopping evening at Salesian School Chertsey this week were presented with plenty of opportunity to shop more ethically for Christmas.
Stalls from over 30 locally based arts and crafts people, and the school's Fairtrade group, offered a dazzling choice of gifts. Share the Light, the charity that grew out of Salesian College Farnborough, was also present, launching this year's Porridge Club Christmas appeal, supporting children in Zambia (more on this soon!).
The school's Salesian Parents' Association organised the event, which also included entertainment from the school's choirs, festive mulled wine, and a raffle, with profits going to the school minibus fund.
