July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Victor does his school proud at Battersea festival

St John Bosco College student, Victor, entertained the community on stage at Battersea's recent Summer in the Square festival. The event was organised by St Mary's Battersea as part of its Faithworks18 programme to take faith out into the local community. A very proud Fr Andrew Ebrahim SDB tells us more.

I did not want to put Victor off by telling him in advance that he was the only young person to sing at Summer in the Square. He was such a hit that he was asked to sing another number but didn't because we had not rehearsed another track; we knew performance time was tight and so it did not even enter our heads that he would be asked to sing another song. Victor has real stage presence and got people clapping along to and dancing to 'When the Saints Go Marching In'.

Wandsworth Radio was so impressed with him that a couple of their presenters rushed on stage at the end of his performance to do an impromptu interview with him - and there too, he was an excellent ambassador for our school.
