July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

VIDES Holiday Hangout 2018 in Croxteth

The VIDES UK team kicked off a busy summer with a project for children aged 4-6 in the local community of Croxteth, Liverpool.

The Celebration of Nations" theme lent itself to plenty of fun and games over the four days of activity, as well as showing the children the work VIDES does in other countries, making pizza and learning a little Italian. The team encouraged the children to think about the "friendship request" God is sending to each of them, and how they can respond.

The week included a boisterous trip to the Crocky Trail adventure park in Cheshire, and on the final day, members of the local community were invited to join everyone at a "Celebration of Nations Day".

The young participants chose a volunteer each day who they felt had shown special kindness, and awarded them a certificate, though, as VIDES said, "we are so blessed to have a wonderful group of young leaders here helping us this week!", so everyone was a star.

The volunteers continued the fun after each working day, with games including their own special version of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here", and the video of their entertaining routine to 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (watch it on the VIDES UK Facebook page)  shows great teamwork, even in having fun!

The adventures of VIDES UK continue soon in Kilmarnock!
