July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Music deepens Holy Week insights at SJBC Battersea

Fr Andrew Ebrahim SDB describes some of the Holy Week activities at St John Bosco College (SJBC), Battersea.

We had two Lenten reflections at SJBC, one on the evening of Thursday 22nd March where parents, governors and other guests were invited to an evening of readings and music for Lent. Our students were joined by students from Salesian School, Chertsey and we had a variety of music to suit all tastes. It was an evening that led those present through the challenging moments of the life of Christ culminating in His death and resurrection.

Students from both schools gave of their best, and as a result, gave visitors to our school an uplifting evening that reminded everyone of the importance of the season of Lent.

On Maundy Thursday, students performed reflections on the Passion of Jesus, through the eyes of characters in the Gospels such as Peter, Judas, Pilate's wife.  The experience was again enhanced by music, and certainly gave our students plenty to think about, and allowed them to better understand who Jesus was through fresh perspectives.
