Dan Antonio of Salesian Youth Ministry GBR describes their recent weekend exploring the Strenna 2018.

 

Last weekend some of the Salesian Youth Ministry GBR animators met together with our young leaders from the RISE project to reflect and share on the theme of this year's Strenna. We looked at how in our roles we might strive to quench the young people's thirst for life and spirituality. This was linked together with the Gospel of John 4:1-42, the woman at the well especially the phrase "Sir, Give me this water". It was a blessed time to share with those who are just starting off in Salesian leadership, listening to their take on how to reach out to the young today.

 

Of course, it was a Salesian event so the Oratory model was evident with a trip to trampolining where all of us older animators discovered new muscles! We also celebrated Mass together with Fr Bob and spent the evening dancing and catching up with each other.

 

Each year the young people who come to our leadership program in the summer are invited to a taster of Youth Ministry, and each year we are privileged to welcome them into the family.
