July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Lively activities and liturgy at Chertsey's "Celebrating RE Day"

Chaplain Fr Marco Villani SDB, updates us on a Chertsey tradition

On Friday March 16th, many KS2 pupils from our primary feeder schools came to Salesian School Chertsey for our "Celebrating RE Day", an event that has now become an annual feature in our school calendar.

Pupils in the deanery from near and far came for a morning based on the theme of Vocation. A welcome, opening prayer and blessing by the School Chaplain introduced the day whilst the programme outline was shared by Mrs M Morrison, RE teacher and Celebrating RE Day Co-ordinator.

Pupils were then placed into year groups before going to different classrooms in the RE block where a morning of fun activities had been prepared specially for them. These activities included a selection of arts and crafts supervised by Ms K Baker, Art Technician and Teacher whilst music was prepared by the pupils under the auspices of the 2nd in RE, Mrs Hibbins-Durkin.

At noon, pupils and staff gathered in the Chapel of St. Francis of Sales for a liturgy in which pupils shared their work and gave thanksgiving for the positive role that RE plays in their lives. Once again, particular thanks goes to Mrs. Morrison for her dedication in organising and promoting such a popular event in the academic year.
