July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Chertsey's Fairtrade Bake Sale 2018 - a delicious success!

Fr Marco Villani SDB, our Justice and Peace Delegate, writes about Fairtrade Week at Salesian School Chertsey, where he is Chaplain.

Thursday March 8th saw the annual Fairtrade Bake Sale at Salesian School Chertsey, Guildford Road. The Fairtrade Team, consisting of pupils and staff members, organised, supervised and ran our most successful Bake Sale yet.

Thanks to the great team work and Salesian spirit of all involved - whether baking, selling, promoting or setting up the staff - the event proved more popular than ever, with all cakes, biscuits, chocolate brownies, Fairtrade Chocolate bars, cupcakes and other Fairtrade treats disappearing in under twenty-five minute.

I also organised a separate Fairtrade Bake Sale at the Salesian Catholic Sixth Form Centre Highfield Road the following day, whilst Ms Woodruffe, Mrs Kilby and Mrs Barclay provided treats for sale. Mrs Barclay's Fairtrade Cake Sale in the Staff Room at Guildford itself raised almost £20.

My thanks to all who participated and contributed in any shape or form without which our official status as a Fairtrade "FairAchiever" school would not be possible.

Fr Marco SDB
