July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Sylvia retires after 19 years of service at St Joseph's

In Bolton, staff and Salesians gathered at St Joseph's to say thank you and farewell to Sylvia Hartshorn, who retired this week.

Sylvia has been a dedicated and much loved carer at our community for older Salesians since it opened 19 years ago, and the SDBs and staff from St Joseph's and Thornleigh House came together to thank her and celebrate with her as she begins her new life.

A delicious buffet lunch was prepared by Sylvia's colleagues, and after she cut her gorgeous cake, St Joseph's Rector, Fr Charles Garrick SDB, proposed a toast, which was followed by a rousing chorus of 'For she's a jolly good fellow', and three enthusiastic cheers.

Sylvia will be greatly missed by SDBs and her colleagues, and we wish her joy and blessings in a long and happy retirement!
