July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Mrs Devereux inspires Chertsey students

Fr Marco Villani SDB, Chaplain to Salesian School Chertsey, tells us about the visit of Mrs Devereux this week

On Wednesday January 24th 2018, the Feast of St. Francis of Sales Patron of the Salesians, Mrs. Maureen Devereux addressed the students and staff of Salesian Sixth Form Chertsey. With over three hundred students from both Year 12 and Year 13 filling Highfield Road Hall, Mrs. Devereux spoke movingly about her son's background, his teaching career in Salesian School Chertsey, his mission in Africa and the ultimate sacrifice of his life when challenging injustice.

The PowerPoint used by Mrs. Devereux used a combination of still photos, television and film interviews and inspirational sayings. Mrs. Devereux stressed that the work and passion of Sean continues to this day with the aims and objectives of the Sean Devereux Children's Fund, supporting the most vulnerable children in countries such as Liberia. Mrs. Devereux encouraged all students present to make the most of all opportunities presented to them to make a difference to our world.
