July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Battersea: Finding the joy of Advent in a painful world

The 6th Form Advent Service this year was based on the theme of how can Advent be a time of joyful waiting or hope when there is so much pain and suffering in our world. Students heard accounts from victims of IS, acid attacks and human trafficking. The 6th formers focused on pictures of suffering but were then asked to place candles on each picture of sorrow.

Through this exercise, we were able to illustrate to them that God comes to us amidst our sufferings and that we need to act as His light of joy and hope in our school, our families and in our communities.

The school chapel was beautifully prepared by Fr Saju John whilst students were prepared for the service by the Head of Sixth Form, Mr Polyviou, and the Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Ms Tezare.
