July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

They Made Some Noise!

Make Some Noise, the 24-hour Salesian youth gather, continues to grow in popularity, with 300 young people from 13 schools and parishes attending this year.

On the evening of Friday 22nd September, groups of 14-16 year olds from all over the UK headed for Bolton, where Thornleigh Salesian College was again the host venue. After an opening reflection, the fun began with a ceilidh, with music from past pupils of Thornleigh, the Castlemore Ceili Band.

A reverent and beautiful evening prayer and Adoration in the chapel brought the day to a close, and Fr Gerry Briody SDB, our Provincial, gave the Good Night, urging all of the young people present to make a difference in our world.

Next morning, the day began with a great fry-up, and a prayerful gathering on the chapel, and went on to offer a great time to everyone as the school transformed into a funfair!

The hectic weekend was rounded off with a beautiful shared celebration of Mass in the Thornleigh chapel, before everyone headed home again.

Some groups have already registered their interest in next year's Make Some Noise, and with its rapidly growing popularity, we'd advise everyone to get in touch with Salesian Youth Ministry and make sure you're there in 2018!

Thank you to the Salesian Sisters, URSpace Glasgow and Thornleigh for photos.
