July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Rise 2017 - an elevating experience for young leaders

Rise and shine at Crosby beach

Br Greg Echegwo SDB tells us about this year's Rise Young Leaders' programme:

What a stunning and very elevating Rise Summer Camp of 2017 took place in Savio House between 24th to 28th of July!

They were six young people between the age of 14 to 17 that participated in this year phenomenal summer programme, planned to empower and inspire our young people to cultivate and foster the Salesian leadership skills. This thereby brings them closer to the Salesian family.

The week's activities included Communication skills, Leadership skills, Canoeing and other water activities, Bowling, Laser Quest, scavenger hunts, Mass, daily prayers, baking, affirmation, and many others. All these gear toward consolidating and enhancing their leadership potential. Our young people have testified that they have enjoyed living, discovering, learning, praying, playing and sharing their time together throughout their week at Savio House.

For the next year, we are planning to reach out to as many schools as possible and widen the opportunity to other young people in year 10s and above. Another interesting fact is that we have a way of keeping in touch with them through a series of different Salesian events!

Best wishes from Fr Roman, Emma, Kazzi, Ryan and Br Greg- this year's Rise Team!
