St Gregory's Bollington - 60 years

On Sunday 11th June, the parish of St Gregory, Bollington, celebrated the 60th anniversary of the consecration of their church.
Clergy, parishioners and the team from Savio House came together to make it a very special event indeed. To mark the anniversary a new-look parish website has been launched, the building was redecorated, and members of the parish worked hard to have the church looking its beautiful best. Frs Bob Coupe and Francis Mageean returned to concelebrate the 10.30 Mass with Fr Tony, and children from the parish read the bidding prayers.
After Mass, everyone made their way to Savio House, for an afternoon of food and family fun - including face-painting and games, with the Savio community joining in.
The first chapel was built in the village in the 1830s to serve the growing Catholic population, and a row of cottages was converted to create a school. In 1957, the current church and presbytery were built, and a new school built in the early 1960s. The Salesians have served the parish since 1981.
Very best wishes to all at St Gregory's!
