July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

School, home, playground, church - and work experience

In keeping with Don Bosco's vision, our communities are closely involved in the lives of their associated Salesian schools. In Bolton this week, we added "workplace" to the Salesian window of home, school, playground and church, when Don Bosco Publications and Salesian Link hosted Winner, a Year 10 student from Thornleigh Salesian College, for her work experience placement.

During the week, Winner learned about the work of our small publishing house, dealing with deliveries of our latest publication, preparing orders for despatch, and working on the essential tasks of editing and proof-reading.

At Salesian Link, our office of Social Media and Communications, Winner used her creative talents and gained some new skills sourcing and editing photos, choosing quotes for our "Text a Day" service, and designing some of our picture quotes, which you'll be able to see on our @salesianlink Facebook and Twitter feeds during July. Those of you who subscribe to our daily Vocation Prayer email will see Winner's work each day for the next two months.

Winner said, "I have had a wonderful experience, and I can definitely say that I have learnt a great deal about the tasks that take place in a publishing and communications company."

The Don Bosco Publications and Salesian Link teams had a wonderful week too, with a talented and hard-working young woman! Thank you Winner, and thank you Thornleigh Salesian College for sending her.

We hope all students who are on work experience around now have a great time too!
