FMA PROVINCIAL MISSION DAY - 25^th March, 2017

Under the title of "Don Bosco: the Magic Weaver", 40 Salesian Sisters and Collaborators came together to study what it means to "Walk with the young" and "Waste time with the young".

Sr Lucy Rose FMA from the General Council in Rome offered some reflections on the Salesian Family and the Strenna.

Helen MacDonald led the first session allowing people to reflect on different memories, and lots of old and new experiences and new opportunities. The session culminated with the confirmation that it doesn't matter what we bring to the table, we are all "members of the Salesian Family".

Lunch was in the hall (United Reform Church, Blundellsands) and much to everyone's delight, the sky was blue and the sun was shining.

Jean Tremarco led the second session: it was very much as personal reflection on Don Bosco, the Magic Weaver. Quoting from the work of Sir John Jones (The Magic Weaving Business), Jean encouraged all to look at the people who have been woven into their lives; people who had an impact. She reminded us that;

"All people are of equal worth but the most important person is the one standing in front of you now"

and,

"Children will forget what we made them think, but they will never forget how we made them feel"

After examining all the people woven into our lives, Jean led the group into a reflection on those people who were woven into the life of Don Bosco;

The third session of the day led by the Provincial Sr Connie Cameron FMA encouraged all the group to reflect on the young people in our lives, to thank God for them, and to look at what we have learnt from those young people.

"Our lives have been enriched by our encounters with children and young people."

The day ended with Holy Mass led by Fr Bob Gardner SDB, who preached on the importance of joy in our lives - that our faces reflect the joy we feel, so that our witness to the Salesian Family can be genuine.
