A very important day in the life of Fr Cyril Edamana SDB and for the GBR Province
On Saturday, 25th February 2017 at Crewe Register Office, Fr Cyril was formally made a British Citizen in the presence of the members of the Savio House Retreat Team, two of his family members and his Salesian brothers Fr Gerry Briody, the Provincial, Fr Kieran Anderson, Fr Roman Scyzypa and Br Janus Garus.
Fr Cyril came to the UK through the missionary initiative of Project Europe. By taking on British citizenship, Fr Cyril promised to play his full part in promoting the common good of British society. The formal, legal ceremony happened to contain within it Don Bosco's deepest wish that his Salesians and all members of the Salesian Family should become responsible and fully committed members of society, at all levels and in all spheres as 'honest citizens and good Christians'.
After the ceremony, the group celebrated together at a local Indian restaurant and congratulated Fr Cyril on this very significant step in his Salesian missionary journey to the UK.
