July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Salesian School Chertsey's celebrates Fairtrade status

Salesian GBR Provincial, Fr Gerry Briody SDB, was the guest speaker at the Fairtrade assembly at Salesian School, Chertsey recently. FR Marco Villani SDB tells us about the school's impressive Fairtrade commitment.

In an event that produces a series of "firsts", we are delighted to announce that Salesian School Chertsey was officially designated a Fairtrade school in September. Having achieved the third and final tier of Fairtrade status, viz. FairAchiever Award, at the time of writing Salesian School Chertsey is the first secondary school in Runnymede to have achieved FairAchiever status. Furthermore Salesian School Chertsey is the first Salesian School in the country to have been awarded such an accolade.

This award would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of the Salesian School Chertsey Fairtrade Committee, comprising both pupils and staff. The challenge for pupils, students and staff is to maintain our efforts to continue to promote Fairtrade throughout our curricula, our events and our products purchased.
