New Head for St John Bosco Arts College

Darren Gidman has been appointed as the new headteacher at St John Bosco Arts College.

St John Bosco Arts College is an all-girls Catholic secondary school in Croxteth, Liverpool. The school became an Arts College in 2004, a leading Edge School in 2012 and a Teaching school in 2013. It was rated as outstanding by Ofsted in 2013.

Darren Gidman, who has worked at the school for nine years, previously held the roles of Teaching School Director and Deputy Headteacher.

Raised and educated in Liverpool, his first teaching position was at Archbishop Beck Catholic College as a maths teacher. He worked at Archbishop Beck for ten years in a variety of roles before joining St John Bosco in September 2007.

Darren Gidman says: "I am delighted to be appointed as headteacher at St John Bosco Arts College. It is an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant, dynamic girls' Catholic comprehensive school with a very distinctive Salesian ethos grounded in support, care and a warm friendly atmosphere."

"This school is at the cutting edge of teaching and learning and thrives on providing the best opportunities to the young people that it serves. I'm looking forward to building on the school's legacy and working together with pupils, parents and staff to develop St John Bosco further."
