July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Don Bosco Evening

Salesian School Chertsey hosted a Don Bosco Evening on 14th June 2012 as part of the preparations for the Bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco in 2015.

Year 7 student Kylah Burgoyne reports:

We were warmly welcomed by the hosts Melissa Anaman and Jude Falconer. Throughout the evening, the presenters and performers were very well planned and organised. Clear speaking was the key and they nailed it.

The hall was packed for Don Bosco Evening

In the middle of the show there was a technical fault, but Daniel Fernandez and Tom Bosworth recovered fantastically, improvising the film we couldn't watch. Dancing and singing was shown to get the story of Don Bosco across visually to the audience. The ending of the show was a brilliant way to give thanks to our namesake; what an amazing night!

As well as video presentations there was singing and dancing

Thankfully it was extremely successful; the audience joyfully joined in and jumped to their feet clapping. If any people had come into the hall not knowing one thing about Don Bosco then I assure you that they left as experts.

Fr Stephen Ortiger from the Benedictine Community at Worth Abbey gave the final blessing

Well done year 7 - an amazing success!
