Artwork in Bootle
Posted: Thu, 21 Jul 2011
Two pieces of artwork have recently been unveiled in the Salesian parish of St James, Bootle, as part of the 125 years celebration of the church.
One painting shows Don Bosco receiving a copy of the local paper from a youngster wearing a blue and red football kit (so it doesn't upset Liverpool or Everton supporters).
The other shows St James looking down on the modern day church with the parishioners talking on the steps after mass.
The pictures were painted by a local artist, John Kelly, and have pride of place in the sanctuary. Local children are seen admiring the paintings.
Thanks to John McCormick, a parishioner, for sending the report and photographs.
