BEST DAY EVER FOR BATTERSEA OLD SALESIANS FC

 

On Saturday, 19th March 2011, the Battersea OSFC 1st XI won the AFA Surrey/Kent Senior Cup Final.

Also the 3rd XI won the AFA Junior Cup Final - the most successful day in the Club's history.

The 1st XI are also in the AFA Senior Cup Final to be played on April 9th against Old Carthusians (who won the FA Cup in 1881, as well as the FA Amateur Cup in 1894 and 1897) at Winchmore Hill FC.

The 3rd XI are in the Final of the Old Boys Cup, next Saturday, 26 March 2011.

Late Update

Fresh from their victory in the AFA Junior Cup Final on 19th March, the Battersea Old Salesians 3rd XI won the Old Boys Minor Cup Final on Saturday 26th March. They defeated a physically bigger and stronger Old Wilsonians team 5-4

on penalties, after drawing 1-1 after extra time.

Still more good news

Continuing Battersea Old Salesians FC's most successful ever season, on Saturday April 9th 2011 the 1st XI defeated Old Carthusians 3-2 to win the Amateur Football Alliance Senior Cup.

 

Losing 0-2 at half time, the Salesians staged a remarkable turnaround in the second half by scoring three times in a 10 minute spell midway through the half.

A large crowd were at Winchmore Hill FC to support both sides on this showpiece occasion and later the Salesian team and supporters returned to their Social Club at Ewell to celebrate their victory.

Old Salesians had won this most prized trophy in Amateur Football three times before - in 1968, 1985 and 1990. Old Carthusians (Past Pupils of Charterhouse School) were one of the first winners of the FA Cup in 1881, and the first FA Amateur Cup Winners in 1894. The father of the captain of the current Old Carthusians 1st XI is an Old Salesian (Paul Nash), and he had scored 3 goals for the Salesian 1st XI in the 1968 Cup Final.
