Silver Jubilees

On Saturday 19th June 2010 two Salesians in the Great Britain Province celebrated their Silver Jubilees of Ordination to the Priesthood.

Fr Brian McGraw with Bishop Joseph Devine, Bishop of Motherwell, at St Benedict's Easterhouse

Fr Brian McGraw was ordained in the church of St Laurence, Drumchapel, on 6th July 1985. He has been based in Chertsey (Teacher, Chaplain and Rector), St Clare's Easterhouse as Parish Team Leader, and Farnborough as Rector. He is currently Rector of the Easterhouse community, Parish Priest of St Benedict's, and a member of the Provincial Council.

The Jubilee Mass was celebrated at St Benedict's at 11.30am in the presence of the Bishop of Motherwell, Bishop Joseph Devine. Fr John Dickson preached the homily and the church was packed with parishioners, members of the Salesian Family and other well-wishers.

Fr O'Shaughnessy thanks the congregation at St James's Bootle

Fr Gerry O'Shaughnessy was ordained in the school chapel of Thornleigh Salesian College, Bolton, on 22nd June 1985. He has been based in Bolton (Teacher and Head of Religious Education), Battersea as Salesian Schools Officer, and Bootle as Rector and school chaplain. He has been a member of the Provincial Council and Vice Provincial and is currently Parish Priest of St James' in Bootle.

The Jubilee Mass was celebrated by Bishop Tom Williams, Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool, in St James' at 3pm with Fr Michael Winstanley (Provincial), who preached the homily, and many other concelebrants. Again, the church was packed with parishioners, friends and family.
