Ruby Jubilee

On Saturday 26th June 2010 Fr Charles Garrick celebrated forty years as a Salesian priest.

Fr Garrick with his sisters and brother.

Fr Garrick was ordained in the chapel of Shrigley Missionary College on 28th June 1970. He has been Headteacher of what was then the Salesian School in Aberdour, Assistant Novice Master in Dublin, Provincial Economer in Stockport and Parish Priest at St Benedict's in Easterhouse. He is currently in charge of St Joseph's, the residential home for senior Salesians in Bolton.

The Jubilee Mass was celebrated at 11am in the school chapel of Thornleigh College, Bolton. Fr Garrick presided and preached. Fr Michael Winstanley (Provincial) and Fr Anthony Bailey (Rector) concelebrated on the sanctuary with many other Salesians concelebrating or participating in the body of the church. Fr Garrick's family was represented in force, including brother and sisters, nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grand niece (altar server). The singing was led from the keyboard by Fr James McGarry. After the Mass there was a buffet lunch for all the guests with the cutting of a cake specially prepared for the occasion.
