July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

St James' Parish Christmas Production

The week ending December 13th 2008 saw a unique take on the world famous Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens staged in the beautiful setting of St James' Church, Bootle.

The parish team leader, Fr Gerry O'Shaughnessy SDB wrote the script and produced the show together with Katie and Victoria Lyon, two of the parishioners. The cast included over 60 parishioners, adults and children. Given the huge success of Mamma Mia, we used the songs of Abba such as Money, Money, Money to accompany the script that saw Scrooge working in the world of modern high finance. The Ghost of Christmas Past took us right back to the original Christmas scene and Scrooge ending up on the X-Factor with a group of nuns!

A wonderful and energetic night of music, drama and dance was enjoyed by packed congregations. We hope to see many of them back over the Christmas period. The parishioners now want to get ready for their next show.
