July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Don Bosco Cup 2007

We had an excellent day at Ewell yesterday (28th May 2007). The Rector of Battersea, Fr Des O'Riordan, started the day with Mass in the Social Club. Then four Salesian teams - Battersea Old Boys and School, Chertsey and Farnborough - competed in a physically demanding football tournament over 4 hours. There was plenty of food and drink including a barbecue, and a good number of spectators.

Battersea Old Boys eventually beat Chertsey in the Final 2-0 to win the National Don Bosco Cup for the second year. The Battersea School team, managed by the School Chaplain Michael Georgiou, acquitted themselves very well, on and off the field.

The only regret is that Bootle and Thornleigh were not able to enter teams. They are really missing out on a wonderful day. We ran a raffle to help cover expenses, and the officials kindly waived their fees, so there should not be too much of a hit on the National Finances.
