July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Mamma Margaret Days

On 13th, 27th and 28th January 2007, just before the Feast of Saint John Bosco, the GBR Province arranged study days focusing on his mother, Mamma Margaret, who was declared 'Venerable' on 15th November last year.

To make it easier for members of the Salesian Family to take part, the days were held in Glasgow, Bootle and Chertsey and ran from 10.30am to 3pm. The programme for each was the same:

  • A welcoming cup of tea or coffee
  • A talk on 'The Relevance of Mamma Margaret for Today' by Fr John Dickson SDB
  • Mass led by Fr Michael Winstanley SDB
  • A packed lunch
  • A talk 'Mamma Margaret and Mother Mazzarello - the Feminine Aspect' by one of the Salesian Sisters, Sr Pat Devine FMA or Sr Mary Tracey FMA.

The photographs below are from Bootle and Chertsey, but all were well attended and the cheerful, family atmosphere which is characteristic of Salesian events was a lesson in itself.
