July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Sparks fly at Bootle!

The Sparks Candle

Nearly two hundred members of the Salesian Family from all over the UK gathered at Savio High School Bootle on November 5th 2005 'to celebrate the past, to share our present realities and together form our vision, renewing our commitment for the future'.

The slogan for the day was 'One Spark lights a Fire!' While others were watching fireworks on 'Bonfire Night' Salesian priests, brothers, sisters, cooperators, volunteers, and our only VDB were returning home well satisfied with a day full of light, inspiration and encouragement.

One of the informal discussion sessions

The Day was organised by a team of young people, the 'Sparks', who had been volunteers on Salesian projects, assisted by Fr Gerry O'Shaughnessy SDB and Sr Pauline Clark FMA. They called on the help of pupils of the SDB and FMA schools in Merseyside to illustrate the theme with their dancing and to provide practical support as the 'Happy to Helpers'.
